My digital herbarium
You surely have noticed there are many different plants around you, but could you tell what they are called or if they are useful? Your grandparents probably would know, because even if you do not believe it, people used to know much more about nature than we do nowadays.
We are going to learn a little more about the world surrounding us by making a digital herbarium. To do so, I propose a series of activities and when you finish them, you will surely see your surroundings with different eyes.

First, let's do a small survey at home. You have the link just below ... LET'S GO!
Activity 1. What our elders know
Use a sheet like this to do the survey and find out what your elders knew about the plants that surrounded them when they were your age. Complete the information here

When you finish, continue the project by following the steps that I have left you below
To look up
In addition, you should know very well the general characteristics of the plants and the main groups that form them. We are going to work it in class, but I leave you some extra help.
Activity 2. What we have learnt
Next, you will make a worksheet to check if you have correctly understood what we have explained in class.
Here is the link to the worksheet. If you prefer to do it in paper you have the link here. Do it calmly, and if you don't remember something, go back to the previous section, where you have information that will help you.
Activity 3. Working in the laboratory
You will learn to handle simple dichotomous keys developed by the teachers, which will help you to know what plant you have in your hands.
Activity 4. Creating our herbarium
We will make a visit to a park where you will have the opportunity to see many plants that will help you to make your own herbarium.
Here you have some detailed instructions, which you must read before doing the visit.
Choose the plants that you like the best to put them in your herbarium. When you have the photos, put them in order in this document. Note that you have to add some information: use the following web pages to help you.
If you have followed these instructions ... you will finally have your herbarium ready!
Now let's share the information with the rest of your classmates. I leave you the rubric that we will use to analyze the exhibition that you will do in class.
Activity 5. My learning diary
I suggest that you do this small survey at home, that will help you to improve and see if the activity has been interesting for you.
